Scrapbook Update & a Moan about Hobbycraft

I think i have decided that i want to try and scrapbook more regularly, im not sure i can manage every week although im going to try my hardest. I have my Simple Stories Sn@p binder which i think will be a good first timer album. I will be using some of their normal pocket pages along with some Insta pockets. I decided to try and go from December to December as i have a lot happening this December... who knows i might only fit December in one book... (How many times can you say December in one sentence... )

It was this video on youtube that inspired me to do this style of scrapbooking... i just loooove it.

Leading on from this i decided i NEEDED to go to Hobby craft to get some supplies, thus enters my disappointment.

Lets talk about my  failed attempt at a shopping spree in Hobby craft... whats going on Hobby craft, why is your so called 'Papercraft' section rubbish now?!

I thought i would treat myself to some project life as it is currently 25% off... the selection was bloody awful. I know its on sale, but it wasnt even enough space to have a full selection laid out, it was all over the shop.

I wanted to buy Washi tape, alphabet stickers (Thickers or other American Craft ones) and some project life cards, or smashbook supplies. They had NO washi tape or alphabet stickers in the whole shop. Not going to bother going there again, think ill stick to online shopping in future which is a shame as i love the thrill of going to the store.

Please direct me to any good websites you know for scrap booking supplies or other scrapbooking bloggers or youtubers.

I also came across some free scrapbook classes online on  www.scrapbook.com, i signed up to all the free ones.. so far so good, i have the Teresa Collins Albums made easy class, Learn to scrapbook, Sn@p Simple stories album in a class, and Journalling technices with Ali Edwards. You should sign up whilst their free, they get delivered to your inbox daily so its pretty cool.

So thats my rambly post over with... ill be putting a video on my youtube with my rubbish hobbycraft haul.. so keep an eye out!

I completed my Wedding smashbook!

It took me a long time, but i finally finished it!!

(i feel like i have already written this blog post, but i cant find it anywhere... )

There is a lot of photos on this post, so if you would rather see the flip through of the book them hop over to my you tube video where i show you each page in detail. Click here

Craft Haul!!

So i went shopping....

I bought some new crafty bits for my Smash book from Hobby Craft and Home Sense (Tip for you, home sense reduce everything once its been in store for 6weeks!)

We started the day off in Dunelm, it has a lot of home stuff in there, and really good prices too. I didnt buy anything but i did see lots of things i like. We ended up having lunch and a cuppa though..

I saw so many things that filled my happy cup, look at the colours!

We then went onto Hobby craft, i always get this feeling of being over whelmed as there is so many different craft things to look at that i like.

More colour!!

I wasn't that impressed with this Hobby craft to be honest, the scrap booking section needed alot of things to be restocked. All the sheets of paper were muddled up which was annoying!
I did see some reaaaaly nice things that i wanted though.

I have never seen project life in person, so i had a good old look at it. I have to say thought, its bloody expensive, and the packaging isnt very appealing. If you didnt know what project life was, you could completely over look it on the shelves.

I like the idea of project life, but i dont like the size of the folder so I've been looking into the simple stories Snap binders which i believe are smaller. So ill keep you updated if i decide to get one.

Next up we had a little look in home sense, i saw some nice things which i thought would be nice to show you, i dont know the price of anything though.

Alphabet cushion

Colorful cushions and footstall

I also found this Infuser bottle, you basically put fruit or veg in the cage in the middle and it gives you flavoured water. It was reduced to £3!! I nearly bought one off Amazon for £15 the day before. So PHEW money saved!

BARGAIN

So here is what i bought, too much. ooooopsy.

You can watch my Youtube video of this Craft splurge in a bit more detail... Enjoy!

My new Addiction: SMASH Folio by K&Company

I love a bit of craft time, and i have always loved to have a journal.

When i was in my teens i always had a note pad, a special one that i picked out each birthday and used to Journal in, i stuck pictures, magazine cuttings, drew pictures, wrote letters to friends (we swapped journals to write back to each other! lol) and just generally wrote really hormonal things in.

So picture this... i was browsing Instagram and noticed someones picture of a 'Smash book'  i asked them what it was and then googled it... then my ADDICTION began!

It was exactely what i imagined my wedding Album to look like... i havent even put my photos in an album yet as i wanted to include show tickets, money, luggage tags etc and i couldnt think of a way to display them, well now i can!

I found out that Hobby craft supply the K&Company SMASH line, so i asked Mike if he would drive me there after work one day, and he said yes... 30mins later we arrived at Hobby craft, the Mecca of craftiness.

I chose the Wedding style which has the cream spine.

As you can see from the pages they are all printed with either a nice pattern or a bold graphic print. As far as a 'scrap book' goes these a pretty special in my eyes. They are £12.99 each which is so reasonable considering you can buy a hardback book with white pages for the same price in Hobby craft. The special thing about a Smash book is that they come with a Smash stick; which is a Fine Liner pen, with a glue stick on the other end!

I have made a start to my wedding journal, and did the beginning page with a picture of us about 8 years ago, i wrote on a Journal card about how we met, the date and when we were offically an item. I think its a nice thing to pass down to your children or grandchildren. (I dont have a picture of this page as its not finished yet)

This page is like my opening page, its the date of our wedding, and a little bit about where we got married. I got the numbers and the letter N from hobby craft for 40p each.

I also bought a few other bits whilst at hobby craft...

Smash book with the 2 Smash pads + stripy paperclips

Books with Hobby craft tape and Embellisments

I spent about £27 on all of that which i didnt think was that bad for the amount of craft stuff i bought. the tape was BOGOF so cost me £2.99 for both. (its still on BOGOF) , The embellishments were £1.49, however the wedding one is now on sale for £1, typical!

I am sorting out all the prints i want to put in of our wedding, and our holiday in Vegas so once they arrive ill be Smashing away in this book. I'll show more updates along the way.

Please let me know if you have a smash book i'd love to see!
